Has anyone also seen user initials disappear today from the balls when looking on a board?

Usually, each users' initials are displayed in a ball on each board so you can tell who to filter by for example.  Today, users who have uploaded a picture still show the picture, but the initials are gone for those without pictures.

I can't reproduce this on my side in on a Cloud instance.

Also no reported issues on this on Atlassian's statuspage.

It could be locally on your instance, best is to raise this with Atlassian Support
