Getting: "Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection?" with JRJC java api when VPN connected.

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I am using the JIRA JRJC api and trying to fetch all of my JIRA issues into a java program.
It is working fine on my normal system but on my work computer where I have the VPN connected I am getting the below error :
javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection?
attached the photo of the error. can anyone help me out of this.
