We are getting error while closing an issue in JIRA:

"Issue Type 8 is not a sub task but parent is specified"

Hi Nic,

We are getting the error like above screen shot.

We haven't done the changes via import or external call.

It sounds like you are doing this update via an import or external call, or you have a post-function that is trying to do something odd with it.

Could you tell us how you are doing this update?

Ahh, ok, I was afraid of that.  You have a broken issue, it's damaged in the index and probably in the database. 

First, try re-indexing the project, then run the "integrity checker" and fix any problems it finds.  Then try again and let us know.
