Get Code Commit time and update that on JIRA

Deepanshu Kumar May 21, 2021

Hello All,

I have integrated GitHub with JIRA and able to attach a branch with JIRA Task. Is this possible that I can commit in GitHub and that time of commit I can get in JIRA corresponding to that task/issue?

and Can I  capture the time taken between status changes of a task?

Thank you

Hello Deepanshu!

It sounds like you're wanting to use smart commits to link a commit to a Jira issue (as you stated). We do have a process to go through so you may enable smart commits, we would suggest reviewing the following to complete this:

  1. Enable Smart Commits
  2. You mentioned you already integrated GitHub and Jira, in case others would like to do this, here is how: Integrate with GitHub

If you're still having trouble getting your smart commits to work, please reach back out and let us know.

Hello Deepanshu,

Thanks for the clarification on what you're looking for. There are advanced options within smart commits where you can add a comment, track time, and even transition an issue. We would recommend reviewing the following to see if the examples will allow for what you're looking for; Use Smart Commits | Advanced examples.
