I have a project called "X" and I'm tracking a large body of work in this project via a single Epic and I'm trying to create a filter that will show any Jira issues (epics, child issues/stories, tasks, etc.) in my project that meet the following three criteria:

  1. Not a child issue of the Epic X
  2. Not a Task that is linked to a child issue of Epic X
  3. Not linked to a Task that is linked to a child issue of Epic X

Is this possible? Below is a more visual representation:

  • Epic X
    • Child Issue 1
      • Task 1 (linked issue)
        • Linked Issue 1
      • Task 2 (linked issue)
        • Linked Issue 2
        • Linked Issue 3
      • Task X (linked issue)
    • Child Issue 2
      • Task 3 (linked issue)
        • Linked Issue 4
      • Task 4 (linked issue)
      • Task X (linked issue)
    • Child Issue X...

Thank you!

Hello @Jacob Silzer

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

It will not be possible to create that filter with native Jira functionality.

Are you willing to consider, or do you already have, a third party app that extends the JQL capabilities?

Yes, I have access to scriptrunner.  I've kinda hacked together a solution using script runner, but it requires me to create three filters and reference each one which isn't ideal.  Is there an easy way to to this within a single filter? Thanks!

Can you show us the filters you created?
