Fields not available to map when using "Import issues from CSV" function

Mark Neighbour September 4, 2019

When importing issues/tasks into a Jira project, sometimes the fields I want to map to are not available in the "Jira field" column depending on the project I'm importing to.

Where/how do I specify which fields should be available for mapping?

I've looked at a number of docs and forum topics but none seem to clearly explain this.

  1. Go to Admin > Custom Fields
  2. Find your field
  3. Click on cog wheel at right and click on Configure
  4. On the configuration page, check this field is configured for what all issuetypes and applicable for which all projects.
  5. Secondly, check the 'Create issue' screen for the issue types that you are trying to import.
  6. 'Create Issue' screen should have all the necessary fields that you are importing.

Hi milanchheda

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately I'm failing at the first hurdle.

I can't see an Admin option. There is a cog icon at top right of screen, under which I can see a link to all the Jira projects I have access to (as an administrator). I haven't been able to find a configuration option.

I can't see anything different about the project settings for the various projects, so I don't understand why I can map a lot more fields into one project as compared to another.

You probably need to contact JIRA Admin to perform the steps mentioned by me. Seems you only have project admin permissions but not JIRA Admin.
