hi,

I have a list of JIRA tickets that i'm monitoring in Excel. Is there an addin that will let me reference a cell with the Jira Key (e.g. DGP-9463) and then fetch some fields from JIRA and update the excel worksheet.

For example look at the excel below. i would like the plugin to use column A as the key - then fill in the blanks of rest of the columns by fetching the details from JIRA.

I don't want to have to put in the JQL Key = HDTR-18674 OR Key = DGP-9649 etc. that's tedious.

If there's no plugin that can do this. then can i achieve this using VBA?

Hi @Yousuf Saghir , have you looked at jira-cloud-for-excel-official . It allow you to use JQL within excel to pull data directly. You can define the columns.

Hi @Yousuf Saghir

welcome to the community!

I trust that you were able to resolve your immediate issue based on Jack's answer.

Just as food for thought: If you are open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, there are apps available that bring many of Excel's features directly into Jira. Depending on your exact use case, you may be able to keep all your data in one place, and not have to sync back and forth.

As an example, my team and I work on an app that provides such capabilities, JXL for Jira. This is how it looks in action:

jxl-basics.gif

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

This all runs within Jira, meaning that whatever you see or update is live Jira data and effective immediately.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
