Epics will be listed in active sprint board?

Till yesterday, in active sprint board, epics where not listing, and now, epics are also showing in sprint board. While creating sprint, we added only stories and when i check the backlog, i can see only stories in the sprint. But in board, epics are listing. 

My understanding, so far, was that, a sprint will contain only stories and tasks, and not epics. 

Please confirm, how it is.

As far as I know, there haven't been any changes to this behavior. Basically, if you have a Sprint value set on Epic, it will show on Active sprints board. In the example below, you can see Epic has Sprint value and it is displayed on the board.

On the other hand, how everything is represented on the board might depend on how items are grouped:

I'm here talking about Scrum board in company-managed software projects. It might be different if you're using business or/and team-managed ones. 👀 (If I missed the point here, can you please share a screenshot of how it looks at your instance? Just a note that this is a public forum)
