Epics not showing on Kanban board

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I have a new kanban board in a team-managed space. The Backlog feature is disabled and I don't have any filtering on. In my column configs, all statuses are assigned.
Epics aren't showing up on my board, and I expected to see them in the "Bakckog/Needs Refinement" column.
