Epics not showing in epics panel Kanban board

A single project with a scrum board and two kanban boards. The filters for the kanban boards are at project level: project = PROJECTNAME AND ORDER BY Rank ASC. All other subfilters removed. Any logged in user can see everything. The issues all have epic linked to them as shown in screencap. All epics are in progress.

The epics show in the epic panel of the scrum board but not the kanban boards. Really tired of trawling google for solutions...

Secondary issue is that the versions are not rolling up the progress bars also shown in the screencap

I had to include a fixVersion in the filter for the Kanban boards and then added the Epics to that fixVersion in order for them to display. Not elegant or intuitive, but works for now, so have not looked into it again

If so how did you fix it? I have the same problem.
