Epic Creation Through Email For Multiple Projects

Just share an inside structure of my organization. It is composed of multiple project managers and each project manager leads multiple projects which would be accumulatively more than 200 projects. We are following the Kanban approach for this where while creating the tickets we need to set multiple fields as well.

So in short, I want a solution that caters to epic creation assigned to the specific project managers leading specific projects, and while creating epic all the fields should be filled out. I tried mail servers and mail handlers but I don't think that this approach will help me in this situation.

Please help me out!

Hi @usama_iqbal0612,

If you are really trying to set up a project organisation at that scale and have project managers involved, I would really discourage you to use email as an important part of your toolbox. It is (one of) the biggest enemies of transparency and a terrible work management tool.

But - that aside - you are right that the built-in mail handling capabilities in Jira are not designed to fill out multiple structured fields in different issue types. They are restricted to the summary / description / reporter / attachments.

The Atlassian marketplace has a couple of email apps that allow you to parse emails and update issue fields from your emails. I have used email this issue in the past to do this type of thing.

@Walter Buggenhout Thanks for sharing valuable information here. What if i use ScriptRunner in this situation to do scripting for this purpose. Kindly suggest if this approach will work.
