we have a requirement  to automate some Epics

The changes we’d like to propose are:

• Epic transitions automatically to “In progress” if any User Story under the Epic transitions to “In progress”
• Field “Epic Status” (different field than “Status”) to be moved automatically to “Done” when the Epic “Status” transitions to “Done” or “Close”
• Epic “Status” pushed back to “Open” if all User Stories under the Epic transition back to “Open”
• Epic “Status” transition to “On Hold” if all User Stories under the Epic transition to “On Hold”

how do we implement this

You will have to use a marketplace application like Script Runner to do this.

You will have to write scripts to do that. If you have programming/ scripting experience, you can do that.
