Hello everyone,
I'm considering using GitHub for Jira app to integrate our development with JIRA, but I have a concern.
Only specific people have access to GitHub and among them only a few can do things like merging.
For example, my concern is that if I integrate GitHub and JIRA anyone can open branches in my GitHub repos (even though they don't have access to GitHub).
Is there a way to enforce user permissions? For example, a user in JIRA would need to provide a GitHub PAT to be able to create branches, etc.
Thanks!
Welcome to the community.
I think this is not an isseu, as the app doesn't allow to create branches from with Jira
See, permissions-required-for-github-for-jira
But also you can provide the permissions based on a role or group in a permission scheme used on the project.
@Marc - Devoteam thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, I read that and thought that it might not be possible, but wanted to check with the community just in case. Thanks!

@Marc - Devoteam re-opening up this discussion because it does seem possible to create branches from JIRA in GitHub now, at least based on this Permissions required for GitHub for Jira . :)
My concern remains the same - if I enable this ( give write access to content (code) ) will any user on JIRA be able to create branches from JIRA? Even if they're not GitHub users.
Or will they need to be a GitHub user with the required permissions (on GitHub) to open branches?
Thank you!
