Hi, hope someone will be able to enlighten me with my dilemma. I want to establish a standard test tool for my company. Previously i have worked on Jira as a user but this is my first time that i need to set it up from scratch. Would you be able to tell me if I get jira will it be enough for my needs : creating user stories, test case management, defect management, reporting and traceability of test activities.

What are the add on that i need to get the end to end from requirement gathering to project closure.

In my previous experience i had Jira then Zephyr as add on for test case and defect management.

Hoping for some feedback and assistance from this community

Hi Joan,

Given those requirements:

  1. creating user stories,
  2. test case management,
  3. defect management,
  4. reporting and traceability of test activities.

Out of the box Jira can manage user stories and defects, but does not come with test case management. You would want an add-on to supplement that functionality. There are quite a few options for test case management - the ones I've seen most commonly used are qTest, Zephyr and Xray.

Thanks Morgan. Have you worked on test rail before? How is the traceability and reporting capability (test plan vs executed) of zephyr?
