I am using Jira Software Data Center version 8.9 and I can't seem to enable roadmaps at all. The steps on this site mention going to my project, then features, then enabling roadmaps. However, I don't have a features option at all under my project settings.
Can anyone explain how to enable roadmaps in this Jira version? (I know that advanced roadmaps aren't available in 8.9 but I don't want advanced roadmaps. I just want regular roadmaps.)
Hi Chase,
Welcome to community. So Roadmaps are part of Advanced Roadmaps so I am a little confused what you are trying to get. if you want Roadmaps you need Advanced Roadmaps. They are available for Jira 8.9 as well, the difference is that they are not native to Jira until 8.16.x I believe.
So if you want Roadmaps you would need Advanced Roadmaps or some other plugin. if you have a newer Jira data center license then Advanced Roadmaps is part of that license but you still need to install the plugin separately
I can't find the old plugin to install so you may need to reach out to Atlassian to provide you with it via support and your license key if you are eligible for it.
Otherwise you would be looking at an app like Big Picture.
Unlike Cloud, where Team Managed Projects can have their own roadmaps their is no normal roadmaps feature in Data Center, you need an installed plug in to enable it on the version you have.
Though i would recommend considering upgrading due to the other features as well as the security vulnerabilities that have been determined over the last few months. There was no security patch for 8.9 as it isn't an LTS thus your instance may still be vulnerable as there is no workaround to fix it: https://confluence.atlassian.com/security/multiple-products-security-advisory-unrendered-unicode-bidirectional-override-characters-cve-2021-42574-1086419475.html
