Embedding 'Content properties report (page properties report) no working in Tab macros

Problem: When embedding 'Content properties report (page properties report) using "Tabs | Mosaic" or "Tab Group" macros, the 'Content properties report (page properties report)' area displays "Generating page properties report", but no report actually generates.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a workaround?

Hey @Tayler Mendoza

As you've found out, this is a known frustration with Confluence's native tab and container macros. Certain macros like the Content Properties Report (Page Properties Report) don't reliably render inside them. The native Expand macro and tab-style grouping macros have this problem with dynamic macros that need to query page data on load; the tab hides the content initially and the report never finishes generating.

There's no official Atlassian workaround documented for this. Some people have had partial success by making sure the tab containing the report is the default/first open tab (so the macro tries to render immediately on page load), but this doesn't always hold and gives you little to no flexibility in how you organize your tabs.

If you're open to a Marketplace app, I'd recommend taking a look at Aura, and first in full disclosure, I'm a Content Writer with Seibert Group GmbH, the company behind it. Aura includes a Tabs macro (both horizontal and vertical) that is specifically built to support other macros nested inside it, including the Content Properties Report. The rendering issue you're hitting is one of the core problems Aura's Tabs macro was designed to fix compared to native container macros.

You'd replace the native tab macro with Aura's Tabs macro, drop your Content Properties Report inside one of the tab panels, and the report should generate as expected when the page loads.

Let me know if you want more details on how the Aura Tabs macro handles nested dynamic macros, and if you're interested, feel free to set up a demo with our team.

Thanks and best of luck!

Hi @Tayler Mendoza

I suspect its not working due to the cloud editor not allowing deep nesting - you could try to place your actual Page Properties macro on the main body of the page and use an Excerpt Include or Include Page macro inside your tab to display that exact content.

I hope that helps!

I am the Customer success manager for Mosaic so do reach out to me abrown@kolekti.com, if you need further help or would like to book a call. We do also have chat on the macro editor ( bottom left of editor) so our team can help whilst you are creating and offer advice

Thanks

Abi

Hello @Tayler Mendoza

First, move the Page Properties Report outside the tab macro to test it. If it works there, you are hitting a known nesting limitation with third-party tab apps in Confluence Cloud.

If it still fails outside the tabs, double-check your standard macro filters and labels. As a workaround, keep the report outside the tabs or link to a separate report page, and consider reaching out to the app vendor for a specific fix.

Best,

Arkadiusz🤠☀️
