Email Notifications are not going to users while password reset and new user invites

Email Notifications are not going to users. The email is not going when they try password reset or when admin sends out "new user invites". There is a message shown on screen mentioning that an email has been sent out. The email ID shown is the exact one that works on other software but it is not working in JIRA. Also all people are getting other automated or system generated emails which rules out any limitation on the organisation email server.
