EPIC name taking external project issue links - How to control it

Ankela Pavani January 12, 2024

When we try to create an EPIC, Epic name taking other project issues

However when we input that value, it automatically assumes a link to - Data Engineering issue item DT-01 How can we avoid this?

Because our preferred format of MG (Move Group) DT (Dev Test) XX (number) is required for traceability. Can you please suggest a method or set the field appropriately to not pick stray links on its own?

Need your suggestion here in amending our EPIC name of the Move groups to be represented differently due to a conflict in naming convention.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Epics are issues in their own right, and issues live in projects, and take their keys from the project key.

If you want to have an Epic key of MG-#, then you need to create the Epic in the project which has a key of MG.
