Due Date Field to match another date field

Hello all! Newbie here. I have a project with the following fields:

* due date (JIRA default)
* Start Date (custom field)
* Est. End Date (custom field)

I'd like my timeline view to reflect: Start Date -> Est. End Date

As far as I can tell, by default the timeline view uses Due Date as the "end date" in that view. 

So my solutions are either: 

1. Edit timeline settings to reflect the fields that I want to see
2. Build an automation that changes the "due date" field to match my custom "Est. End Date" field

Thoughts on best approach?

Just for clarity, can you confirm you are referring to the Timeline feature that is available in Jira Business/Work Management projects?

If so, be advised that it is not currently possible to customize which date fields are used in the Timeline (or the Calendar). You can vote on a change request for that here:
