I am used to working on a server based instance of JIRA at my former companies. I am currently struggling with the new UI that is used on the cloud based instance. When I see screen shots on JIRA in google searches, often I see images of the old, much easier to use and working better as a bug database UI. Is the old interface still used on the server version? If I switch to server-based, would I be then able to avoid the cloud based UI? I dont want IT to go to the trouble of setting it up for us, only to find out its just the same as using it on the cloud!
Yes, Server retains the UI layout you are used to (with some branding updates in the later versions - slight change to the blue, new icons for the Applications etc), and it seems there are no plans to inflict the Cloud UI on server users in the near future.
Up-voting for "inflict" being the verb you used.
