Does Jira provide the feature to update existing issues using import Functionality?
If yes, what role user needs to be in? Currently I am the project admin and able to import new issue but not able to update the existing issues.
please send me any documentation on that.
Hi Neelam,
yes this is possible from CSV import.
To update existing issues, your CSV file needs to contain a column that maps to Issue Key. If an issue exists for a given key, it will be updated.
Please find further information in knowledgebase. ("Updating existing issues").
I'd recommend to make sure you have the appropriate permissions in the project to create/update issues (at least temporary for the user you are doing the import/update) with.
Cheers,
Daniel

The following way should work better according to user reports:
Under JIRA Administration > System
look for Import & Export > External System Import and there select "Import from Comma-separated Values (CSV)".
This needs support from your Jira Administrator if you do not have Jira Administrator global permission.
Cheers,
Daniel
