Does Jira allow you to create more than just a task?

I am trying to create a "Bug" and "Feature" using JIRA but the only type of issue I can see in the drop-down is "Task". How can I add the others?

The project has an "Issue type scheme" that limits you to "Task".  As an admin, change it to use a scheme that includes the other issue types you want to use.
