I'm trying to determine if Jira Data Center currently supports the ability to create team-managed projects (versus company-managed projects). For clarity - we are on Jira Data Center 10.3.12. I am a Jira administrator for our implementation, and 1) do not see the option to create a team-managed project, and 2) the instructions for determining if a current project is team-managed or company-managed do not work.
Google provides inconsistent responses regarding this capability. Asking Google "does Jira Data Center support creating team-managed projects" gives the response "No, Jira Data Center does not support creating team-managed projects; this feature is exclusive to Jira Cloud."
However, asking Google "when did Atlassian remove support for creating team-managed projects in Jira Data Center" gives the response "Atlassian has not removed support for creating team-managed projects in Jira Data Center; this is still a valid feature."
In summary:
1) Does version 1.3.12 of Jira Data Center support the ability to create team-managed projects?
2) If the answer to question 1 is Yes, why am I not seeing this option, and how do I update my installation/implementation to reactivate this capability?
If someone from Atlassian is monitoring this forum I'd appreciate an answer from an Atlassian employee, but all responses are greatly appreciated.
Regards - Steve Janvrin.
Hello @Steven Janvrin
No, Team Managed projects have never been supported in Data Center. It is strictly a Jira Cloud feature. Google AI is wrong. If it didn't provide you with a reference to an Atlassian provided document, then it culled information from other sources that were also wrong.
