Hi everyone,
I'd like to clarify how decisions are handled across Atlassian tools. Specifically:
- If a decision is documented in Jira (comment, description) can it automatically appear in a Confluence Decision Report or decision macros?
- Similarly, is there any way these decisions can also surface in Atlas (Goals/Projects) updates under the "decision" section?
I'm trying to understand if decisions are synchronized across the tools and how we should work with the decision macro in each tool.
I would hope there is a way how to sync them and look forward to your input and best-practices!
No decisions made in a Jira issue can't be retrieved by the Decision report macro in Confluence.
This can only retrieve decisions based on decisions set on Confluence pages.
Same applies to in Goals (Atlas is the old name), decisions are set within a Goal not retrieved from issues linked to the goal
Currently I'm not aware of any sync options and 3rd party solutions, also no feature request seems to exist on this requirement.
thanks for clarifying! Good to know the Decision Report only pulls from Confluence pages and that Goals handle decisions separately. For now, I'll stick to linking Jira issues into Confluence decisions and managing them directly in Goals.
It feels like this would be a really useful feature though - I'd definitely support a feature request if one comes up as it would help us with our setup.
Currently, we define work through Jira issues, maintain Project Concepts and related documentation in Confluence, and are in the process of setting up project reporting under Home > Project Updates. When it comes to decisions—particularly those tied to specific issues—we would need to manually record them in all three locations to maintain a single source of truth (SSOT) in the issues while having the project overview in Goals and Confluence.
