Display sub-tasks on the Timeline

Has Jira still not allowed sub-tasks to viewed on the Timeline? I have reviewed

JSWCLOUD-18677 and it has over 1500 votes, which leads me to believe they are not going to implement this.

If it is now allowed, can someone help me show this.

Hello @Jason Chayer

With the Standard subscription (indicated by your post tags) it is not possible to display sub-tasks in the basic Timeline. Unfortunately with that plan and native Jira functionality there is no work around.

You could upgrade to the Premium subscription to gain access to Advanced Roadmaps Plans which provided a more extensive Timeline feature with more customization capabilities.

Or you could consider a third party app that provides timeline capabilities.

@Trudy Claspill - thank you for your reply. I was afraid this was the case.

I will need to justify upgrading to premium with more than just wanting to view sub-tasks on a Timeline view.

You may find that a third party app is less expensive.

This document is a feature comparison across plans:

Hi!

I would like to recommend you our app Team Planner - Resource Planning and Capacity Planning. It is perfect for teams to collaborate with each other on achieving their goal.

In Team Planner, you can create a plan with a calendar like view and add tasks to the users.

tp1.png

You can display, the summation of the estimates of the tasks added to the plan. So, that it is easier to plan accordingly to your limits and check if your team is on track.

The plan can be edited simultaneously by your whole team.  Making it easier to work in team. You can also add the Jira issues from multiple projects to the plan.

I hope it is helpful to you. In case if you have any questions about out app, we will be happy to meet on a free demo call.

Hi @Jason Chayer

If you would be interested in a mktplace add-on to view your issues on a timeline view, take a look at

Issue Hierarchy

The app also allows you to create a hierarchy based on standard jira structure (Epic -> Story/Task -> Subtask) or even with your issue links. You can view %complete progress at each parent level. It roll ups the time tracking fields, story point or numeric fields at each parent level.

Disclaimer : I am one of the app team member

Timelines still don't show subtasks, but next to any task that has a subtask a tree symbol appears. If you hover over the tree symbol you are shown a tooltip that says "n of y child issues complete"
