Display story link on a sub-task

Özgecan Sarı March 17, 2022

Hi! I would like to display the story of that sub-task in the issue details field.

I have multiple stories and each of them has multiple sub-tasks attached. When I entered a sub-task which is connected to a parent story, I would like to see, which story that sub-task belongs in the "Details" section.

I have tried creating a custom field for this issue, but it didn't solve my problem.

What I'm trying to do is similar with in the screenshot below, currently I can view the epic link of a story, similarly I want to display the story link of a sub-task automatically.

Thanks in advance for your help

Are you trying to display the issue key or the Summary of the parent issue?

The issue key will be displayed in the bread crumbs automatically.

If that is not sufficient, then besides creating a custom field you will need to fill that field with data. You should be able to create a custom Text field and fill the field using an Automation rule.

I don't think you can create such a field that would also display the small pop up you see if you hover over the info in an Epic Link field. And with native Jira Cloud functionality I don't think you can make that field an active link to the parent issue, like the Epic Link field is an active link to the Epic.
