Is it possible to disable the 'delete' function within the Jira "Bug" issue type for one project?
Or is it possible to limit the 'delete' function for the Jira 'Bug' Issue type to only users with "Admin" privileges?
Hi Winfred - you can control who can delete issues using the Permission Scheme for that project. But you cannot control it by issue type.
That being said, it is NEVER a good idea to allow anyone to delete issues. This can cause serious heartache because once an issue is deleted, it is gone forever.
It is better to implement additional statuses such as Discarded or Aborted or Canceled or something like those. Make sure they have a Done status category.
Yes, and...
Rather than using an additional status, we added an Abandoned custom field. Then people can set it and move items to "done", so the workflow remains the same. We also update our filters so abandoned items do not appear in reporting, and... we can always find them when needed.
Best regards,
Bill
