Hello, I'm wondering why I would be shown different sprint insights based on the board I'm currently viewing.
Here is board 1, and the insights showing for the sprint:
And here's board 2, and the insights showing for the same sprint:
As you can see, the percentage for "Done" is the same but it's showing 20% "In Progress" on board 1 vs 29% "In Progress" on board 2, as well as 15% "Not Started" on board 1 and 6% "Not Started" on board 2.
Can anyone help us out? I'm hoping this is just a dumb question with a quick answer.
Hello @Alex King
Welcome to the Atlassian Community.
Do the boards use different filters and show different issues?
I believe the Insights area can reflect information based only on what is available to it in the board from which you are viewing the Insights.
@Trudy Claspill Hmm, yes the two boards are different in that way. The first board is basically all of the issues in the project, while the second board is filtered to show specific issue types (any dev-specific issues like bugs, etc.). This is where I'm curious, though, because there shouldn't be a discrepancy of dev issues on the primary board and the dev-only board. Are you saying that each board will show you insights based on the issues on the board? I would think sprint insights would show you insights based on all issues in the sprint, not those specific to a board but I could be wrong.

I could be wrong. I don't work much with Insights.
I did a simple test.
I added 2 issues to a sprint, started the sprint, and transitioned one issue to done. I then created a saved filter to retrieve just the one done issue, and made another scrum board from the saved filter. The board status/column mappings are identical. The boards use Story points for estimation and the referenced project is Company Managed.
The Sprint Burndown chart in Insights was identical between the two boards as was the Sprint Progress.
I then set a Flag on the not-done issue.
In the board where that issue is displayed, the Insights showed that as an Issue needing Attention issue. In the board where that issue was not included, the Insights showed no such issues.
So, there is one difference.
Then I change the status to column mappings. When you look at the estimation summary bubbles in the backlog, Jira sums those up as follows:
gray - the items in the left-most column only, regardless of status
blue - all the middle columns, regardless of the actual statuses mapped
green - the right-most column only
I took a gray status from the left-most column and moved it to the center column. That resulted in changing the Sprint progress display between the two Insights views. The Sprint Progress insight seems to match the estimation summary that appears in the backlog as far as which items are counted in each category.
Do you two boards use the exact same status/column mappings?

Ah, interesting. No, the two boards have different status/column mappings. You're saying the difference in Insights is linked to that discrepancy? It makes sense.

The data in your boards would have to be analyzed to confirm, but yes, that could explain the discrepancy.
I would be interested to hear from you if do the analysis and confirm or refute that is the actual cause in your case.
