Did mail handler has option to filter repeated notifications

Hi we thought of using mail handlers to create issues but repeated emails for the same issue until the issue is fixed would be received. Is there a way to filter out such repeated emails.

The only way to avoid duplicate tickets is to either ensure subsequent emails have the issuekey in the subject OR denounce the emails outside of Jira before they hit the Jira mail handler.
