Ever since yesterday, `create branch` button stopped working. Earlier for past 15-20 days it used to open a new tab to create a github branch in the repo.
I haven't changed anything neither in Jira nor in Github, I am super frustrated. I know the commands to create branches etc. however I like this feature very much.
Having the same issue on two separate projects that were connected to Github for Atlassian and able to create branches through the branch creation pop-up page normally last week.
Perhaps it's an issue on Jira's side?
Hopefully it's fixed soon because starting the branch in the terminal is inconvenient.
Exactly, the whole reason I choose Jira over Linear was `create branch` feature. Honestly it is a kind of luxury I want. Atlassian Jira please fix it.

Hello @Mohammad Omar
What happens when you press “Create branch”?
Does it give you an error, open a blank page, or does it do nothing? Disable your pop-up blocker, or try a different browser, and check that you have GitHub write access.
Manually create a branch in GitHub and use the Jira key. If it does sync, we can assume it is a browser/UI issue, but if it does not, you should request that an admin investigate the integration.

Hey @Arkadiusz Wroblewski
Now when I click on `Create Branch` it provides me the complete git command along with issue integrated branch name.
I am the admin and github integration is there, for past issues I can see the branches, commits and PRs.

Jira falling to checkout means the GitHub repo or your permissions aren't clearing the check. Atlassian added a GitHub app setting requiring Write or Admin access to see repositories when creating a branch.
Check app settings, GitHub write permissions, and the selected repo in the app.
If a manually created branch syncs to Jira, the connection is fine, just the creation flow's broken. If your permissions appear to be correct, please submit a ticket to Atlassian Support. Community members are unable to investigate backend logs for recent platform bugs.
One advice: If everything seems fine, then don't waste time and contact support, as it points to regression.

Here is the Github Atlassian's Configuration:
funny things is, I never changed or reconfigured these settings since enabling Git for Jira (which was like a month ago). Anyways thanks a lot for the assistance, I will take your advice and contact support.
Thanks @Arkadiusz Wroblewski

Can you try to reconfigure that by unchecking the permission box and checking it again, or try to configure it again from scratc
Again, when @Jad Tawbi has the same problem and is not related to your instance, it looks like a broader bug/Regress.

Woow! New developement, for free Jira user there is no one-on-one customer support. I can chat with AI and it responded with the same answer as you.
I have already tried that. I have even disconnected Github and then re-connected and initiated Sync.

Upon filling the form, I am getting a button `View self-help resources`, which I have already gone through.
I guess atlassian don't entertain support for free plan.

Just skip providing the site ID, and put it as a comment.
If that doesn't work, then do that in an incognito window or choose that you are not a customer.
