One of our developers on the team is not seeing the description populated. We have checked his permissions and he can view it on the Jira mobile app but not on the web application.

Hello @Frikan Erwee

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

Please, ask the developer to provide us with the information below so we can properly troubleshoot why the description field is not displaying in the Issue view:

  1. Provide us with a screenshot of how the issue is being displayed to the developer.
  2. What is the device used with the Web application when reproducing the problem?
  3. What is the browser used? Is the description not displaying in other browsers too? Please, ask the developer to confirm if the browser used is listed in the documentation below:
    Supported Platforms
  4. Is it happening to any other users or in other issues?
  5. Are there any errors returned in the development tools of the browser when reproducing the problem?

Let us know if you have any questions.

Hello @Frikan Erwee

Thank you for your details.

About the information you provided:

Question: Is it happening to any other users or in other issues?

Answer: No other users but If I imitate the user via admin function

Ok, but is the problem happening to the developer in any other issues or just in this specific one?

Question: Are there any errors returned in the development tools of the browser when reproducing the problem?

Answer: When opening the dev tools and using the mobile view emulator the description does show.

What do you mean by "When opening the Dev tools the description does show"? The Dev tools panel of the browser only displays any possible background errors in the application, it is not supposed to display the description field itself. Can you please provide us a screenshot or a further description of what the developer is seeing there?

Additionally, I believe we will need to take a look at the Har file of the page to further troubleshoot. Since this file may contain sensitive information, I ask the developer to do the following steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome and go to the page where the issue is occurring.
  2. From the Chrome menu bar (mceclip0.png) select More Tools > Developer Tools.
  3. From the panel opened, select the Network tab.
  4. Look for a round Record button ( Record button ) in the upper left corner of the tab, and make sure it is red. If it is grey, click it once to start recording.
  5. Check the box Preserve log.
  6. Click the Clear button ( Clear button ) to clear out any existing logs from the Network tab.
  7. Reproduce the issue that you were experiencing before, while the network requests are being recorded (Basically, open the issue in the web application)
  8. Once you have reproduced the issue, right-click anywhere on the grid of network requests, select Save as HAR with Content, and save the file to your computer.
  9. Upload the file to google drive, giving view permission only to me (pgoncalves@atlassian.com)

Let us know if you have any questions about the steps.
