Hello all,

I am looking to best dependencies management process in Jira which would involve:

1. record dependencies - how, what link to use? Link between two issues or create separate RAID board for them or any other suggestion?

2. view dependencies - how to get a view of dependencies? what tool to use to display dependencies ... dashboard, confluence etc?

3. track dependencies - is it possible to view the variance between linked issues? use of plug ins?

Any advise would be appreciated, thank you.

Hello Rad,

What kind of dependencies you are specifically talking about? Can you provide us with a practical example of how you want to configure it?

Per your description, I think that you are specifically referring to issues dependencies, in a scenario where one issue cannot proceed while another is not finished/progressed yet. Is that correct?

That being said, I will try to answer your questions accordingly with what I have supposed:

This kind of "dependency" can be achieved with the Parent Status Validator on JIRA, however, it can only be configured with the link between Parent issues and sub-tasks, which is a very limited feature.

If you want to have more dependencies options, I recommend you to try the plugin PortFolio For JIRA, which have a variety of dependencies that you can use, view and track as you want:

Using Scope and Dependencies

Please, take a look at the documentation above and try the plugin to confirm if this is the feature you are looking for, Rad.
