Hello Everyone,
I am new to JIRA, and been learning stuff anywhere I can. I recently stumbled upon an issue in my organization with users unable to log in to JIRA for some odd reason. I've read and read tons online on ways to fix that and one was "Editing the settings" in Delegated LDAP Auth. However, when i proceed to User Directories, Delegated LDAP Authentication shows no settings to modify. instead it tells me "I need to log in as a locally Authenticating User" to edit the settings.
How do I do that? where do i log in as a local auth user? Would appreciate a few pointers.
Hi @Sarah Olaleye,
Welcome to Atlassian Community.
When you first install Jira you are asked to set up an admin account that is using the internal Jira user directory. So in you case you need to log in with a user that belongs to that internal user directory in order to be able to change your LDAP user directory.
If you need to reset the admin password you can follow the steps in this KB, Restore Passwords To Recover Admin User Rights. It requires that you stop Jira, set a recovery password, restart Jira and log in using a recovery account.
Thank you @Mikael Sandberg for such quick response.
In this case, I wasn't the initial JIRA Admin from onset, someone else who is no longer with the organization was at the time JIRA was set up. unfortunately, all necessary information was never passed down. Am i able to retrieve that information through the link you sent?

The link I included describe how you can reset the password in order to get access to the admin account again.
