Defining automatically calculated fields based on two other fields

I'm wondering if you have any updates on this:

Actually, as it was raised back in 2012 its pretty outdated and I haven't really seen any positive outcome.

Can you please assist me if it's possible to define a field in which the value is calculated based on 2 other fields?

It hasn't changed, you still need something like the Script Runner or Misc custom fields.
