Hi,

How do I set default component for all issues created under and/or linked to certain Initiative?

For all issue types created under and/or linked to "Q4 SEC Filing" initiative to have "Q4 SEC Filing" component tagged automatically vs. manually updating while creating an issue.

@Sapana Pandey You can make use of JIRA automation to achieve this.

  • Add on automation for issue Field value changed event.
  • Choose the field value as "Parent Link"
  • Define variable to save the parent key of epics
  • Define branch rule to get the components of parent issue
  • Define variable to save the parent component
  • Update epic issue field with the above variable value

For the tasks and subtasks -->

Define another automation

  • issue created event
  • Edit issue field
  • Select component to copy from Epic issue for tasks types
  • Select component to copy from Parent issue for subtasks types

Hello @Sapana Pandey

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

You could use an Automation rule to set the Component field after the issue has been created.
