Decommission of JIRA 6.0.1 which is using SQL Server as backend

Arjun August 12, 2019

Currently, we are using JIRA (6.0.1) using SQL Server database as backend. If we had to decommission JIRA and after sometime if we want re-install the JIRA again by connecting the same SQL Server database, will it work as expected?

Hi

If the Jira version you re-install is the exact same as your current and your sql database hasn't been touched. I think you should be fine.

To be safe, you could also just zip your install and home folder as a backup and restore them if you ever need to.

I'm not completely sure if it's already built-in to the Jira version you're using, but Jira does have a built-in backup and restore feature which allows you to completely backup your instance and have it fully restore in a clean Jira install.

I hope this helps a little
Kind regards
Jorden
