CustomField global availability automated to each project without manual intervention

Dirk February 29, 2024

Good day

I've created a custom field with global availability, but wondering if it is possible that this field can be applied to all projects without manual intervention?

Just like how labels are there constantly when you create a new project or issue

As currently, I have to go into each project and add the customField to the template, I am afraid that I might forget to add it when creating a new project

Hello @Dirk

There is no method for adding new fields to projects that does not require some manual intervention. You might be able to write some code with the REST API to do the task, but you would still need a method to initiate that code to execute the task.

After creating a new custom field you should be presented with a list of screens to which you can elect to add the field, similar to this:

You can check the box at the top on the right to have the field added to all screens.

Note the list will include screens associated to Transitions in Workflows. If you don't want the field added to those, you will need to find them in the list and uncheck them.

Label values are an entirely different type of entity than fields. Equating the two is not possible.
