We have a team-managed project board on Jira Work Management. We have a configured list, which we have created new Issue types and Subtask types for.
The issue we are faced with is when we go to Issue Types, the new subtask types we have created are not visible either in the left hand side bar (under project settings > issue types) or under the board itself if I create a Task or custom issue type, the subtask types we have created do not display - the only subtask to display is the standard 'subtask'.
We have reviewed several articles and have seen references to modify the associations under 'Issue Type Scheme' however the board we are operating on does not display there when we are trying to 'associate' a scheme to it. The default issue type scheme has the relevant and correct subtasks appearing within it, however it does not seem to impact the board we are working on.
Any advice? We're at a dead-end and we're just trying to configure a simple board to manage our work and even that feels impossible.

Team-managed projects only support a single sub-task type, you can't have more than one. It's an on/off - either you have sub-tasks in the project (all called "sub task"), or you do not.
Team-managed projects are not configured with schemes, schemes are the way you configure company-managed projects.
If you want many types of sub-task available, then you will need to move to a company-managed project. To do that you will need to create a new project and think about what issues you want to move from the old project.
Hi @Amina Malik and welcome to the Community!
If your project is indeed team managed, then the issue types are not managed centrally in Jira using schemes, but they are specific to your project itself. Navigate to Project settings > Issue types to manage the list of types in your project.
Caveats: the issue types are specific to your one project only and can't be shared with other projects. And as far as I am aware, you cannot add additional sub-task issue types.
If you want to add additional sub-task issue types, you would need to switch to a company managed project instead. Over there, you will be able to use the issue type schemes you found in documentation.
Hope this helps!
