Hi,

The custom field "Epic Status" is locked, and cannot be changed (anymore, in older versions of Jira it was possible...).

However, we would like to change the (unused and useless !!!) statuses "ToDo" and "In Progress".

In several discussions it is described how to unlock the field, change it, and lock it again.

Also, is is described that Jira Software uses the "last" option (= the one with the highest sequence value) as the one to include/exclude the Epic in boards. So it seems the sequence order is used to identify that particular option, and not its name ("Done").

Do you think it is save to change the options, keeping the option "Done" as the one with the highest sequence number ? I guess/fear nobody knows the answer ? :-(

If you want to apply workflow to your epics, use the Status field for that.  Then for the final transition to "Done", either add a post function to auto-set the Epic Status to "Done" also or throw up a screen with the Epic Status as a field so that you can set it to done.

Use Status for workflow and Epic Status ONLY to control wether or not it displays in the Epics panel of the backlog view.

Hope this helps!
