Hi,
I have created several different issue types that sit at an Epic level.
I am able to create child issues within them.
The issue is I am unable to view the Parent issue from within the Child issue - ie the Parent issue does not sit at the Breadcrumb, nor does the "Epic Link" field populate with the Epic-level issue type above.
I am aware of the Parent field replacing Epic Link and Parent Link.
Hello @Alex M
Prior to the changes concerning Epic Link and Parent, additional issue types that were added to the Epic level were not treated the same way as the native Epic issue type in Jira. They would not be displayed in the Epic Link field nor the breadcrumbs in a Standard subscription.
In the Premium subscription like you have, they could be leveraged through the Advanced Roadmaps Plans feature. In that case the new issue could be specified in the Parent Link field for its child issues.
With the change all parent/child links should be surfaced in the Parent field and show in the breadcrumbs.
I have access to only one Premium instance, and it appears that the change has not yet been applied to it, so the Parent Link still works in this case.
If the Parent Link field also doesn't work to display the other issue type as a parent, I would advise you to contact Atlassian support.
Thanks @Trudy Claspill
Any idea when this will be enforced?
This says from Oct 2023 - and we could really use this functionality sooner rather than later.

The roll out appears to be in progress. I have seen the replacement of Epic Link with Parent in many systems that are Free or Standard subscriptions.
I have access to a few Premium systems where I have seen Epic Link replaced by Parent, but in those systems the Issue hierarchy has not been modified/extended, so I can't confirm the replacement of Parent Link with Parent.
You may want to ask your admins to reach out to Atlassian support directly to see if details can be provided about when the change will be rolled to your specific instance.
