Credentials for Jira-CodeBeamer synchronization.

Dimitris Kamposos December 18, 2023

I am trying to connect my Jira project with my CodeBeamer tracker, and I can't get past the login step. CodeBeamer knowledge base mentions that the connection with Jira Cloud projects needs a Jira API token as a password, but it doesn't seem to work the way I'm doing it. So my question is, does anyone have experience with Jira-CodeBeamer synchronization, and how do I create an API token?

Hi @Dimitris Kamposos ,

You can create and manage an API token here: https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens .

such a token gives CodeBeamer all the access rights your account has.

Hi Dimitris,

Yes, when syncing Jira Cloud with Codebeamer, you’ll need to use an API token instead of your Jira password. Here’s how to generate one:

  1. Go to https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens
  2. Click “Create API token,” give it a label, and copy the token.
  3. Use your Atlassian email as the username and the token as the password when configuring the sync.

That said, even with valid credentials, setting up sync between Jira and Codebeamer can be tricky—especially with permissions, custom fields, and structured work items. OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM) handles all that behind the scenes and ensures smooth, secure sync between the two systems.

Let me know if you need more help with the tool or have any further concerns.
