Create not retaining values in custom field

JD Lobue August 29, 2023

I'm creating an epic and setting a value in a custom field that is not retaining its value. Any ideas why? Thanks

Hi @JD Lobue - To confirm my understanding, you're saying that you're creating an issue and then shortly after the issue is created, the custom field is cleared out? I would look at two things:

  1. In the workflow, does the Create transition have any post-functions on it?
  2. Are there any automation rules triggering on the issue after it is created and if so, I'd dive in and see if they are clearing that field for whatever reason
  3. Lastly, if you've been on cloud long enough, it's possible that you still have Legacy Automation so you may want to verify that there are no legacy automations triggering.

It was defaulting back to a different value, and not clearing it out. You were right...there was an automation setting it to the value. Thanks.
