I create work type called "Page" and added hierarchy level 2 for this work to have it as parent for the work items that I create in work type "Epic" but when I add a work item with the work type of "pages" it's added in the backlog like a user story, I want to have this work type like 'Epic' work type and create a box for this item in beside the "Epic" box.
If you can please advise about this
Hi @Ahmed Essam , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your post.
As you say, it should be possible at Premium or Enterprise tier, to modify the hierarchy of the work items - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-the-issue-type-hierarchy/ .
However, this doesn't mean that because a work item is at the same level in the hierarchy as an Epic, that it takes on the attributes of one, which I think is what you want.
Are you using Epics as well in this board? or do you want to use Pages instead?
Can you share some information and some screens (anonymised is fine) from your configuration so we can see what is going on?
Cheers
HI @Valerie Knapp ,
Thanks for your feedback, I will clarify to you more what I exactly need:
1- I wanted to create higher hierarchy level above the epic so I created a work item type called pages with hierarchy level 2 as below:
2- when created work Item a work item using the type "Page" it shows up in the backlog as below:
3- I managed to add the epic as child of the page created as above image.
4- the main thing I need is to have the pages in open box similar to the epic & version boxes as in the below images, so when I create a work item using type "page" it doesn't show up below the user stories or tasks and it appears like when I create an Epic:
