Create an issue - no way to select Epic

Hello, I am a Team Managed Jira project.  When creating a Task, there seems to be no way to select an Epic for that task.  There is an Epic field once the task is created, but you have to go to the task, edit it and select the Epic.  I want to be able to select the Epic as I am creating the Task.  Am I missing something?

To my understanding that is exactly how TMP projects work. You can create a task directly under the epic by selecting the epic but if you use the create button alone then you have to create issue then go in and assign to an epic.

That is what I was afraid of.  Seems odd to work like that.  What is the point of not having an Epic field when creating a task?

Where do you have an epic field when creating a task?

In a Company Managed jira project, you can have that.

Also, when you go to edit a task, you can then add an Epic.

Why wouldn't it be there to create a task?
