Create a table

How do I create a table in a field in a Jira ticket?

I've tried this format:

|| Heading 1 || Heading 2 || Heading 3 ||
| Row 1 Col 1 | Row 1 Col 2 | Row 1 Col 3 |
| Row 2 Col 1 | Row 2 Col 2 | Row 2 Col 3 |

But when I save it saves as it looks above, not as a table.

I've also tried creating a table in Word, but when I paste and save in Jira, it reverts to the look above.

I've been able to answer my own question: it seems that the 'description' field allows formatting, including tables. But, other fields, such as 'brief description' and 'action plan' does not have any formatting (can't create a table, can't bold, etc).
