Create a git branch from Jira in VSTS?

Moshe Zvi June 26, 2018

We currently use BitBucket cloud and Jira, so I know the create branch link in a Jira issue can be used to create a branch in BitBucket.

We're now moving to VSTS (as a code repo), and I was wondering if it's possible to configure the link somehow to create a branch in VSTS?

If not - is there any other add-on that supports this scenario (i.e. create a git branch in VSTS from a Jira issue)?

It looks like Git Integration for Jira is able to allow you to create branches from the issue in the same way the Jira/Bitbucket integration allows you to.

We actually have it installed, but I don't see any option for it.

According to the documentation you should see Create Branch under the development information, if not I would recommend contacting support@bigbrassband.com to get help.

I do see a Create branch, but it's currently pointing to bitbucket.

I dug a little into the system defined add-ons and modules, and in the add-on

Atlassian JIRA - Plugins - Development Integration Plugin

There are a couple of suspicious modules, namely:

Create Branch CTA Link Factory (devstatus-cta-createbranch-link-factory)
Create Review CTA Link Factory (devstatus-cta-createreview-link-factory)

BitBucket Create Branch CTA Link (devstatus-cta-createbranch-bitbucket-cloud-link)

All of which indicate "Module cannot be modified".

So the question is:

1. Can we work with BitBucket and VSTS in parallel?

2. If not, how do I disconnect from BitBucket and point it to VSTS?

I would contact support@bigbrassband.com since they are the vendor of the app.

If anyone got an answer on this it would be great to update the thread, as we are facing the same issue.
