Create Modal shows up when creating a new task in the backlog

I am trying to make it so that I can just add tasks directly to sprints on my backlog. Right now when I click here:

I get the modal:

And then the task is placed in the backlog, not the sprint. 

How do I get rid of the modal showing up and the task just staying in the sprint?

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Do you have required fields besides Summary when issues are being created in this project? If so, that will cause the modal to open.

If only the Summary is required, then you should be able to click the Create Issue button and see your cursor placed in a new line within that sprint, where you can select the issue type and enter the Summary.

But, if there are other fields that are part of creating the issue that have been set to Required, then the modal has to open to get the input for those fields.
