I am a bit confused and hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I have set up a Jira automation rule that should behave the same way across similar issue, but I am noticing inconsistent results even though the conditions and fields look identical. Sometimes the rule triggers exactly as expected, and other times it just doesn’t, without throwing any obvious errors. I’ve double-checked permissions, project settings, and issue types, but I’m still missing something. Not sure if this is a configuration nuance, a known limitation, or just user error on my side. Has anyone run into this before or knows what I should check next?
Hi @Adeel Bablu
For a question like this, context is important for the community to help. Please post the following:
Until we see those...
One possible cause of inconsistency is how the work item events happen. That is, does a person do something or an automated process, such as another rule. Depending upon the rule settings, that could impact the behaviors. Seeing your rule and the log will help confirm this.
Kind regards,
Bill
Hello @Adeel Bablu
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
In order to help you debug what is happening we need more information.
1. Screen images showing your entire automation rule including the Rule Details page and the details of any steps where those details don't show in their entirety in the diagram of the rule.
2. Specific examples of scenarios where you expected the rule to run but it did not, with the details of what change was being made and the item being changes which you thought should cause the rule to trigger.
We cannot provide truly meaningful advice without that information.
