Hi all
I have a Sprint 3 that I'm due to close today. However, it's confusing me because I cannot seem to understand the logic behind the numbers.
When I look to click "Complete Sprint" I get 156 completed, 237 open work items and it asks me what to do with the open work items.
However, on the Sprint 3 board I have the top of the board saying 221 work items in total.
When I run a query for the sprint and filter on not Done items:
project = "P9OB - Oakbank" and Sprint = 254 and issuetype!= Epic and (component is EMPTY or component = QA) and status != Done
I get 135 work items.
In my board, the final column is the Done column.
I was thinking 135 would move over and not 237. Can anyone shed a light as to why?
Update:
I closed the sprint and asked it to move everything not Done into a new Sprint for further analysis. The new sprint contains 172 work items. I'm more confused now than before!
The discrepancy likely stems from how Jira calculates and displays work items across views. The "Complete Sprint" dialog includes all incomplete issues assigned to the sprint at any point, even if they were later removed from the board filter or moved to other boards. Your board showing 221 items reflects only what's currently visible based on your board’s filter. The query returning 135 “not Done” issues reflects your custom filter (e.g., excluding Epics or certain components). Meanwhile, the 237 open items shown in the sprint completion dialog includes all items not marked as “Done” within the sprint scope, regardless of your current board view or filters. ucharts
Hi @Adeel Mirza ,
Welcome to the Community! How many work items do you see when you run Sprint = "254" ?
