In my previous company, I worked with our JIRA Software admins to create multiple "structures" (I believe this was the terminology/feature name used in JIRA) project templates, each incorporating existing JIRA hierarchy (Project, EPIC, Task & Sub-Task). Each structure had 50-200 JIRA issues manually added so that it looked somewhat like a 3 level deep MS Project Plan.
Once the "structures" were created, any new "real" project was created as a clone of one of these "structures" and all of the 50-200 JIRA issues were automatically added to this new project.
Once the project was created, the PM (me) updated the individual issues to assign them to a group/individual. Reporting project status in Confluence was super easy via JIRA macros.
Question... I cannot seem to find this "structure" feature (other than in Atlassian Marketplace)... are "structures" still part of JIRA Software?
Hi Andy - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
In addition to what Dave said, you can do something similar by creating a project based on an existing project. That will get a lot of the "structure" in place. Then you can use an add-on like Automation For Jira or ScriptRunner to auto-create a set of initial issues if needed/desired.
John, Thank you for this suggestion! I spoke with my JIRA Admin and he is familiar with Automation For Jira and is spending a bit of time testing out various settings. Greatly appreciate your help!

Hi, Andy. It sounds like your former employer was using Structure for Jira (was "Structure" something that appeared in your Jira menu bar?), which, as you guessed, is an Atlassian Marketplace app.
If you'd like, you can reach out to me on LinkedIn and I will try to confirm this for you.

Hello Dave... you are absolutely correct! It does appear that my former employer was using "Structure for Jira" and I believe "Structure.Pages" as well. What a fine set of add-on tools/features these are!
Thank you for all the additional information you provided away from this forum... I greatly appreciate the time and effort.
Hopefully my new company will at minimum, try to 30 day free offer.

Welcome to the community, @Andy F_
If your previous company was on Jira cloud, it might be possible that you have worked with Deep Clone for Jira. It's possible to clone entire Jira projects including project settings, issues, components and versions with our app.
Unfortunately it's not available for server.
